Leaders recognize their ignorance as a gift of life which leads to a productive life's journey. The journey of life is fulfilled through helping others reduce their ignorance and therefore become more capable and sharing with others. Because a leader recognizes and accepts his or her ignorance, he or she is able to immediately see the plight of those who are stagnated in their ignorance and know assistance in reducing ignorance makes the world a better place for everyone. The concept of democracy is to live life as a journey and is best promoted by true leadership.

Non-leaders deny their ignorance and conider it a curse, so their decision is to live a life as a destination. The life lived as a destination seeks to avoid assisting others while gaining as much material wealth and public recognition as can be extracted from others. Because a non-leader is unconsciously aware of his or her ignorance, he or she immediately seeks to expose another's ignorance to render them more vulnerable to exploitation to the benefit of the exploiter of others' weakness. When democracy is reduced to livng a life as a destination, the outcome is deterioration of society.
